Tony Horton’s P90X workout DVDs are an advanced level of combination workouts designed to mix cardio training, isolated strength conditioning, Yoga exercises, and martial arts moves within a weekly regiment. Each DVD focuses on a daily workout averaging 45 minutes and includes the warm-up and cool-down periods. Horton actively demonstrates the moves following through each routine. There is casual dialogue offering both encouragement and a realist approach as Horton will sometimes remind viewers to attempt what they feel they can handle, and to back off a little if it becomes too overwhelming. Sometimes his comments are random, but you soon get acquainted with his somewhat cheesy humor and catch-phrases like, “Bring it!”
Two key components which make the workouts motivational are the on-screen timer and the quick transitions from one move to the next. P90X reviews assert there is a such a variety of exercises within each workout, you cannot become bored or irritated with difficult moves to the point where you want to give up. In addition, there are reminders to write results down for goal setting and comparison purposes the next time you take on the workout; the worksheets are provided.
Tony Horton’s P90X workout is not one to start with if you have not recently been very active. You will definitely sweat, and muscles will you did not know you had will ache. This series is for people who maintain a fit and healthy lifestyle and are looking for new routines. The P90X reviews speak for themselves.
