Insanity Workout Reviews Rotating Header Image

Insanity video

And so it begins.

Today marks the first day of my use of the insanity workout program and I have immediately realized one thing. The workouts are really insane. I’m completed exhausted from the workout which I have just gone through and if this journal/review ends suddenly in the middle then it most probably means that I have passed out. I’ll try to stay awake long enough to recount my experience though.

My workout started out in the morning by 5.30. Liz, my wife, barely moved when I got out of bed. She’s lucky. It took me two minutes to dive into my workout gear and another 3 minutes to get my Insanity video ready. I’m starting with the “Plyometric cardio circuit” workout today. The pack announces that the workout will take 40 minutes, if all goes well I will be done before 7am. I hit the play button and the image of Shaun T hops unto the screen. He really looks impressive but that is the least of my problems. He says something about the importance of warming up and then begins a series of routines.

Most of it is familiar. We start of by doing some cardio routines. First I am ordered to jog in place long enough for me to worry about the condition of my heels. Then, Shaun T quickly switches to a couple of jumping Jacks. This is just as quickly followed by butt kicks, mummy kicks and something known as the Heisman. I’m also made to do a 1-2-3 move. The first reps of the exercise are relatively normal. But with each rotation the exercises become much faster. By the third rep I decide that I might not get to like Shaun T very much. Just before I break into tears, the warm up comes to an end and I am asked to stretch. Stretching is supposed to be important because it gets your muscles ready for the routine ahead. I am half drenched with worry already. If the warm-up was this intense what will the main workout be like?

I soon find out.

The workout is intensely hard. There is no other easy way of explaining it. It’s supposed to last about 20 minutes but it feels like the crammed an entire year of routines into it. I am asked to do power squats, mountain climbers, ski downs and suicide drills. There is a 30 second break between each rotation and then the intensity and pace of the exercises becomes even much faster.

By this time I am almost blinded in sweat and I wonder if I will need to mop the room after I am done.
Shaun T allows a brief water break (God bless his insane heart) before he is ordering me around again for another 3 and a half minutes of muscle rotation with the same routine.

There is nothing jovial about this workout. They seem determined to get me in the best of conditions in the earliest time possible. I suddenly begin to believe the whole 60 day claim. The way I am being worked I probably will look by Shaun T in three days.

We do another set, this time consisting of level 1 drills, ski abs and in-out abs. It’s understandable if you’re not familiar with these expressions. Just trust me when I say they’re terribly effective. I can feel all my muscles as they are used. I am glad when the workout routines finally come to an end. I see people collapse on the floor from exhaustion before the workout ends and I don’t blame them. I am just as exhausted. I am so tired I cannot even lift the DVD remote control to stop the Insanity video play. I lie on the floor for another 30 minutes until Liz walks in. She looks from the TV to me lying on the floor. She laughs softly to herself and walks to the kitchen. I love that woman but sometimes she makes me wonder.

So there, I’ve completed the first day of the workout and although I have 59 days ahead of me I’m already convinced that it’s bound to work. It’s only a matter of when. The exercise routines are very effective. I don’t think I have done as many jabs, cross jabs and upper cuts in my life.

Liz calls from downstairs asking me to come and help her with something.

I laugh to myself. The way I feel I won’t be much help blowing out a candle. I’ll take another 15 minutes of rest, put my insanity video away and then I must get to work.

Insanity DVD

It’s been one weeks since I started the insanity fitness program and I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m impressed. Already I can feel my endurance and fitness level improving. The first couple of days I had problems making it through the Shaun T Insanity DVDs but in the last two days it’s been a lot easier. I think this is because most of what the insanity fitness program is based on are extreme cardio routines. In just 30 minutes, the workout puts me through a rigorous exercise program. It really is impressive.

But as much as I am impressed with the cardio routines of the insanity DVD, I think I am more delighted with their insanity cardio recovery workout. That’s what I engaged in this morning and it feels like a satisfactory breath of first air.

The aim of the cardio recovery workout is simply that. Its intended to allow exhausted people (ahem… like me) to take a break from the busy schedule of the day. Simply put, today I get to take a break from insane workout. I can almost hear my body purr.

The DVD starts with a 3 minute warm up. Again it is the incredible Shaun T waiting for me alongside his team. We are asked to take deep breaths. Emphasis on deep. After this, we then proceed to engage in a series of stretches. The stretches aren’t really strange since I’ve been doing them most of the week in other workouts. The stretch routine is careful and well thought out. We first stretch the muscles of our backs and then those of our neck. We do a plank work before doing stretches of our arms and hamstrings. The experience is completely pleasant.

Once this is completed I am then asked to begin some vital muscle work. A routine of 16 slow wide leg squats quickly gets my leg muscles into the mood. Next we do a series of lunges stopping at the last of these and holding our legs at the bottom position. It took a while for me to get the hang of it but by the fourth repeat I think I passed it successfully. After a few more of this we start to mix it up with some more leg squats.

Midway through the recovery workout, we get into what perhaps might be my favorite part. A number of pile Yoga stretches. There is nothing like a good Yoga stretch to get the tension and stress out of your body and leave your muscles all relaxed. We do a wide center squat with our feet outwards and then bend to one side (the right) until our right hand touches the floor all the while keeping our left arm straight up. With this done, the process is again repeated using the other side and arm.

After completing the reps on the exercise, Shaun T goes into an exercise routine known as the “Quad Strenghtners”. Just like the name suggests, its aimed at strengthening all your major abdominal muscles. It involves resting on the mat with my hands and knees against it and then proceeding to lift our legs in alternation. If this sounds too easy then its probably because it is. Shaun T seems to realize that because he adds an interesting twist. I am asked to raise my other knee of the mat alongside my lef lift.

The final third of this Insanity DVD involves some more yoga stretches before we begin cool down stretch routines. Compared to all the other 9 workouts, the ‘Cardio Recovery & Max Recovery” might appear a little too easy but it also happens to be extremely important. With all the exercise done during the week, it is vital that you allow your muscles time to recover. This period of recovery also gives you enough time to prepare for the next day’s workout.

Most people who skip these day of recovery usually end up hurting their muscles because of the intensity of their workout. I know it’s called the insanity program but not giving your body time to rest is well beyond insane. Besides, having spent 7 days on the insanity workout calendar, I already have a good idea that after today, tomorrow’s workout is definitely going to be a lot more intense.

Is it weird that I am actually looking forward to it?

Insane Workout

Last week I wrote a review on the benefits of the Insanity Cardio Recovery & Max Recovery program. This week I’ve decided to head in the other direction and talk about the Insane Pure Cardio workout. If you thought the recovery insanity exercise was an insane workout, you’ll be impressed with the intensity of this workout.

There are some P90x fans that are of the view that at 33 minutes, the Insanity Cardio recovery workout is too short compared to those found in the P90x routine. They’re right to say that Insanity workouts are shorter. However, they’d be wrong to assume that it is anything less than thorough or intense. Let me tell you, Insanity is one insane workout.

The workout starts off with the traditional warm up routine. After two weeks of sticking to the program, I already know that before the warm up is complete I am going to be completely drenched in sweat. The quick reps and routines quickly get my blood flowing. There are three separate rounds of warm up each about 4 minute long.

Most of the warm up routines are familiar exercise sequences. We are made to jog in place before going through a series of jumping jacks, variations of Heisman, Butt kicks, Mummy kicks and High kicks. There is virtually no break between each of the rounds and the next round is done at a much faster pace than the last. My fitness level has greatly improved in the last 2 weeks however and so I do not have any problem getting through these.

In 10 minutes I am ready for the workout as I will ever be and predictably, my sheen of sweat is in place. The warm up routines in the Insanity program are so intense that Shaun T allows a water break once it is completed in order to allow us rehydrate our bodies. That is exactly how much sweat I am talking about.

After the brief water break we begin with stretches. The stretches offered with the program are really effective and get all your muscles well toned. You get to pay attention to your leg muscles, back muscles and your arm muscles as well. This period of stretch lasts for about 5 minutes before we take another 20 second break. If you’re just beginning the workout I better warn you. It’s important that you make the best of your break because once the workout begins; you’ll not get a chance to rest again.

The workouts consist of 15 different exercises. Each of them is done within a minute making for a total of 15 minutes for this cardio session. Don’t be deceived, these take a lot of effort to do. They’re so intense that at the end of the workout even Shaun T was exhausted. True story. If you’re expecting an easy quarter of an hour, you’ll be seriously disappointed.

The list of exercises which are done (in no particular order) include

1. Switch kicks (really tasking)
2. Stance Jacks
3. Suicide
4. Jump rope and hooks
5. Pedal
6. Wide football sprints
7. Power jacks
8. A number of level 2 drills
9. Power knees
10. Mountain Climber
11. Frog Jumps
12. Scissors runs
13. Push up Jacks
14. Ski Downs
15. Suicide Jumps

I’d have loved to get into these but considering they’re so many, I’m afraid I won’t be able to. Besides they’re kind of difficult to explain because of the variety of movement involved. However, if you’re looking for an assessment on the Insanity Pure Cardio workout, then take my word for it. These workout routines are definitely no joke.

It’s almost safe to say that you will not be able to get through the routine without taking an unpermitted break. You might even take more than one. It’s okay if you need to. I took about three 30 second breaks before I completed all of mine. The more important thing is that you aim at completing each of the 15 from the beginning to end. I managed all of them and like I said, it certainly was not easy.

Shaun T helps though. All the while he is there encouraging you to keep at it. He urges you to “Never stop moving”. It’s possible to achieve what you want by just staying discipline. Don’t give up. Keep working at it. Shaun T’s voice is firm all through the workout.

Two weeks ago I talked about the fitness test which I had to do before beginning the Insanity workout program. Well, if you didn’t fare very high in that test then you might want to postpone doing this workout until you are ready. It is strictly an advanced program and not everybody will be able to complete this insane workout.

INSANITY Exercise Program Fit Test

Last week, my wife Liz and I decided to begin the INSANITY exercise program. It’s billed to be a thrilling, excruciating and engaging 60 days of vital cardio/calisthenics and Plyometric workout drills. But first, before we could begin we needed to go through the INSANITY fit test. Successfully completing it will mean that Liz and I are ready to begin the actual workout program. If we fail, well…….that’s NOT going to happen.

Wish us luck.

insanity exercise reviewsBeginning the INSANITY Fit Test
The fitness test lasts for only thirty minutes but within that period you are supposed to be able to determine how fit you are really are. I was really looking forward to this experience. Despite what many people had told me, I wasn’t convinced about the intensity of the INSANITY routine. It couldn’t be that difficult now could it?
I soon got my answer.

The Fit test begins with the fitness Coach Shaun T on the screen. After he welcomes you, he then proceeds to walk you through each of the exercise routines. He is not always alone. At some point he is joined by two backups. With more people on the screen including Shaun, it gives room for Shaun to do other things whilst still providing you with effective models on whom you can base your actions on.

The fit test begins with a simple enough warm up. You’re asked to begin to jog on the spot for about a minute. It seems like an easy enough routine until Shaun decides to up the tempo. After a minute we begin to alternate our warm up routine with some jumping jacks, side leaps and high knees. As far as exercises go, these are intense enough to be listed as normal workouts but Shaun seems happy to classify them as mere warm ups. In five minutes, I can feel the sweat dripping off my face and body to the floor. Next to me Liz is just as covered in sweat. There is one important difference between us now and the way we were five minutes before. We’re no longer laughing and smiling. Shaun means business and it looks like we’re in for it.

Once the warm up is completed Shaun immediately begins the test by leading us in a series of switch kicks. There is no noticeable period of rest between the end of the warm up and the onset of the actual test. It just seamlessly transitions from one state to another. I suddenly begin to realize why INSANITY is considered by many to be the most excruciating workout program.

In a blaze of routine, we go from switch kicks (which weren’t that bad) to Power Jacks (which are a lot harder). Again, we are not given time to rest during this transition. Shaun has no problem throwing us from one workout to another without giving us time to rest. As if to prove this point, he leads us from the difficult Power Jacks workout to the more difficult Power knees.

If I thought I was going through a tough time, I was all set to scream by the time we got to the Globe Jumps. My body was completely slick with sweat. I was gasping so quickly, I half feared I would use up all the oxygen left in my garage where I had chosen to workout.

Shaun T is a genius. I don’t notice it during the workout program but after the exercises I come to realize the amount of planning that has gone into the various stages in the workout. With his guidance we are taken though a working of our legs, then our upper body and finally our core. The result of this smart ploy means that the progression unfolds naturally and it makes it easier (if such a word can honestly be used) to adapt to the different workouts. Some of the exercises which we do (e.g. Suicide Jumps) would have been a lot harder if we had skipped some stage of the workout. By making us do these earlier exercises, Shaun conditions our body to prepare for the routines ahead. Like I said—genius.
.
We did a couple of push jacks which lasted for about a minute. After that we ran another 60 second Low Plank oblique workout. By this period though, I was struggling not to scream “I quit”. The exercises were really taking their toll on me. Next to me I could hear the panting of Liz as she, like me, struggled to make it to the end.

I wish I could say that once the 60 seconds of the last routine was up, I calmly walked over and picked up a towel but that would be a lie. Once we were done, I spun around in a half circle and allowed my knees take a well deserved break. Lying on the floor never felt so good. I had a renewed understanding of how important breathing and oxygen really is.

But under that mental and physical exhaustion I was smarting to realize one thing. I felt great. I had finished the fit test and that meant one important thing. I was qualified to do the INSANITY workout program. Liz asked me if I wouldn’t join Shaun T in doing the cool down routines which he was currently engaged in, I told her that I would take a rain check on it. I would get to it later.

By later I meant tomorrow. Tomorrow I will begin my very first INSANTIY exercise program. Having gone through the fit test today, I sense that this new adventure would be just as difficult, excruciating and yet thrilling. I’m not worried though. I’m determined to go through this workout program successfully. If Shaun T can complete them, then so can I. Some people might call my determination insanity. They’d be right.

That is what the program is all about isn’t it?

INSANITY Fitness Review – Day 2

insanity fitnessIt’s the second day of the INSANITY fitness program and things are about to go from hard to extreme. If you’re like me, and you felt that the fitness test was a real strain of your fitness level, then the Plyometric Cardio circuit is going to leave you feeling even more exhausted. The Plyometric workout is made up of a strong series of intense workouts that are guaranteed to push you close to your limits. When they talk about the insanity workouts being extreme this is part of what they mean. I can guarantee that you will not have experience anything similar to this. Most people who do this routine end up folding half way through. There are two things which you will require in order to get through this exercise. Determination and a strong level of fitness. If you have those then you will be fine.

The entire duration of this Insanity fitness workout is billed to last for at least 45 minutes. This includes the usual routines of warm-ups, physical stretches, the main workout and the closing cool down routines. The workout last about 20 minute and even though it is undeniably tough, it definitely doesn’t feel impossible.

Warm Up
Each of the exercises found in the warm up routine are repeated thrice. Each set is basically the same except for the increase in speed and intensity that is found with the next cycle. You will therefore begin with a fast set, followed by an even more brisk second and then a really intense third. As can be imagined, you’ll end up being so worked up it’ll be hard to believe that this is just the warm up. If this is your first time trying this workout, it might be a good idea to do a bit of light warm up before starting Shaun T’s version of a warm up. It’ll help you get through them much better.

The exercises which are found in the warm up include:

  1. Jogging
  2. Jumping Jacks
  3. Heismans
  4. 1-2-3’s
  5. Butt Kicks
  6. High Knees
  7. Mummy Kicks

Once you’re done you’ll be given a 25 second water break. Be careful not to drink too much at once though.

Stretch
After the intense session of the warm ups, these stretching exercises might appear to be almost a period of break because of their relative ease. They aren’t breaks though. These exercises are intended on preparing your muscles for the workout which will be coming next. Shaun T provides good guidance and keeps the tempo up throughout this routine. Stretches last for about 5 minutes before being concluded with a 25 second water break. The next step is the main workout and if you’re not ready yet then you’re in big trouble.

Main Workout
There are four different parts in the workout routine. These include the Suicide drills, the basketball drills, the attacks and lastly the football drills. All the named drills are executed in the same sequence of three that is found in the warm. You repeat each of them three times whilst improving your pace before moving unto the next one. The “attacks” is the last part to be addressed.

Suicide Drills
As far as the workout exercises go, these are the easiest of all four parts. They consist of the following four routines

  1. Suicide Drills
  2. Power Squats
  3. Mountain Climbers
  4. Ski Down.

Once you have completed these you will be given another water break, this time lasting for 30 seconds. Once it is up, you will be ready to begin the next stage.

insanity fitness reviewFootball Drills
These are not the most difficult of the workout exercises but they are definitely more intense and demanding than suicide drills. In order to perform them you start with your hands in front of you as if you are about to catch baseball which is being thrown at you. Then, whist squatting you will to run in place. Your feet are not supposed to be raised more than a few inches from the floor. Shaun T will provide extra instructions whilst you are doing this. Follow these all through.
You’ll have another 25 seconds after this to take yet another break. Make the most of it because the workout will be getting even more difficult.

Basketball Drills
Considering you’re just emerging from 20 minutes of warm up, stretches and two sets of workouts you’ll also be pretty exhausted by the time this drill begins. This is unfortunate because the basketball drills are certainly the hardest part of the entire workout. They involved pushups, mountain climbers and ski drills. You’ll then have your muscles yelling murder whilst Shaun T guides you through a rigorous cycle of In and Outs. I won’t lie. It’ll be difficult but then again that’s what the insanity fitness program is all about isn’t it?

Attacks
The attacks mark the final set of the workout and you’ll be so glad to finally get to this point that you’ll probably find the inner strength to finish them. Like the name suggests, you’ll be asked to execute a number of attack routines. You’ll perform boxing jabs from a boxing position. Then you’ll get into cross jacks and upper courts. By the time you’re through with this you’ll be really tired and exhausted. That’s okay; once you enjoy your thirty second water break all you’ll need to do is perform your basic cool down stretch routines. It’s important that you get proper stretches in. Without these your muscles will end up feeling sore and raw.

And that’s it. You’ll feel like you’ve been through a month long exercise routine but you haven’t. It’s only lasted 40 minutes and in another 24 hours, it’s bound to begin again.

INSANITY Workout DVD Reviews

Yesterday, I did the INSANITY workout DVD. Even if I had somehow forgotten my body would have reminded me. I woke up with my entire frame feeling like it had gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson. My arms keep throbbing with the exertions of the day and my feet and hamstrings feel completely raw. And yet, despite all of this soreness and pain, I am looking forward to going through the workout later on tonight. I don’t need playing violins in the background to tell me what I already know. I’m in love with these INSANITY workout dvds.

If you haven’t seen the INSANITY Commercial yet, click here to watch it now.insanity workout commercial

There are many reasons behind my appreciation of its methods. For example consider my diet and appetite. One week ago my energy level was low at best and I barely had that much of an appetite. However ever since the fitness test I’ve been eating more each day. I bought most of the foods recommended by the workout program—asparagus, salmon and broccoli to name a few and most of these are already gone. Yesterday I had 2 salmon wraps and today, just before I sat to write this review, I had an awesome meal of cottage cheese with fruits and granola. It was delicious. You see what I mean? My fitness level is not the only thing that is improving. My diet and appetite is as well.

But let’s not get too side tracked. This review isn’t about my favorite diet recipes (although it could easily be) instead it’s about the Cardio & Plyometric workout. Let’s get to it.

>>Click here to visit the Official INSANITY website.<<

The workout begins just like every other INSANITY DVD. If you’ve been through the FIT test you’ll be more than familiar with this. It lasts about 10 minutes and Shaun T doesn’t crack a smile through the entire workout dvd. Neither will you. Unlike the FIT test, here you get to repeat the sets in the warm up routines 3 times. Each time the new set is done at a much faster pace and so by the third, I am half blinded with pouring sweat. I was delighted with the next period which called for stretches. It gave me enough time to catch my breath. I felt like I had burnt 3 kilos in the warm up alone and the amazing thing was as hard as the warm up had just been, the workout was bound to be a lot harder.

Shaun T didn’t let me down. Once the stretches were done and a 20 second water break complete, Shaun started with a rigorous 20 minute workout. I pretty much was hanging on after the first 2 minutes and asking me to recount all that occurred is a bit challenging. I do know that we did a number of routines including high knees, side jumps, squats and mount climbers. We did a few more before Shaun introduced us to the FOOTBALL drills.

Football has never been easy and I always suspected those players had to go through an intense training drill. I however never thought it was this intense. It was all I could do to get through the 3 minutes of the drills. My legs felt like lead. Shaun T seemed to be made of rocket fuel because once we were done with the football drills he began on a series of basket ball drills. For another minute were did Jump shots, and a number of push up and running in place routine before again returning to another jump shot. Repeating the entire process again and again. Each time going a little faster. Each time hearing the voice of Shaun telling us not to stop moving. Not to quit. It was I.N.C.R.E.D.I.B.L.E.

Just when I was all set to drop on the floor and spend the night there, Shaun begins on what he announces is the final sequence. As can be imagined, he has saved the best (or worst) for last. An EXTREME workout that involves more pushups, in and outs ski jumps an unbelievable amount of crunches and then the plank again. He repeats the set over and over again. At some points my hands feel so weak; I suspect they will be filing a divorce to me the next morning.

It wasn’t completely smooth sailing. I did stop for a break. More than once. It wasn’t just me. In the video several of Shaun’s back up exercisers also took some seconds of break. A few just plain-out collapsed on the floor. Talk about a true test of fitness. By the time we were done and had started the closing cool down stretches routine, I was covered in as much sweat as my body possibly could. I was also delighted with the results. With 60 days of this, I definitely am bound to get the body and fitness level I know. It does hurt though. I probably will be saying “Ouch” for another three weeks.

In the end the Cardio & Plyometric is everything that the INSANITY reviews said it would be. And it’s mostly thanks to the amazing Shaun. He is as good a fitness coach as you’ll ever need. He provides the motivation required to get through each set. He is always encouraging and telling you to work harder. To push through the different routines. He tells you to stay true to the routine because he is right there for you. To continue and not give up. Call me silly, but I believe thanks to his encouragements I got through the INSANITY DVDs in one piece.

I can wait for tomorrow’s workout.

P90X vs INSANITY? Which Is Right For Me?

insanity vs p90x

The debate of which is better, P90X or the INSANITY workout program, has been running for a while now. Many people are confused about which of these two fitness programs is right for them. Having experienced both I’d like to offer my opinions on each.

The type of workout which you choose should be affected by what your overall goals are. Establishing what it is exactly that you hope to achieve will make the decision of a workout a lot easier. Most of these programs are not designed for beginners so if you’re considering either it is advised that you already be in some decent level of shape.

One thing that should immediately be recognized is the fact that both of these workouts offer intense exercise routines. Doing the exercises offered in each will get your body tasked to the most extreme of levels. I have been engaged in workouts and fitness exercises for the last 15 years and so I am in more than a good shape of fitness. However, every time I embark on a P90X workout, I end up feeling the strain and effect at the end.

If your aim is to work various parts of your body one part at a time then the p90x will be a great place to being. The P90x is broken into different routines which target different parts of the body. You can therefore choose to begin with a workout for your legs and backs and then follow it with another that is aimed at your arms and shoulders. The p90X routine is also found with a kempo, stretching and ab routine. You can also make use of its plyometrics workout. There are 12 different workout routines. In order to provide you with a better workout experience, you will also be given a calendar, a fitness guide and a nutritional plan. Most of the P90X workouts require the use of fitness equipments like chin up bars, dumbbells and resistance arm bands. More often than not, you might be required to visit the gym in order to do the workouts provided in P90X fitness program

For people who do not have the time or means to visit the gym or buy fitness equipment and still wish to exercise at home, then the INSANITY fitness program provides a welcomed option. With INSANITY you can have your workout anywhere. Instead of using fitness equipments, this workout employs more of cardio and Plyometric routines. These exercises are centered on toning and building the various muscle definitions of the body. Unlike the P90X there are 10 different workout plans available with the INSANITY workout. Like the P90X however, this is accompanied with a calendar, a fitness guide and a nutritional plan.

Shaun T INSANITY Workout Review

There is a new phenomenon in the realm of exercise and fitness and it is taking the world by storm. It is the fitness and workout program known as INSANITY. Many people have heard about Shaun T’s INSANITY workout. Not many people understand what its secret is but everyone agrees that it works. In just 15 minutes, the INSANITY program will put you through some of the most intense and frankly excruciating exercise routines. You’ll be covered in sweat at the end, your muscles will be begging for mercy and your fitness level will have improved. In 15 minutes insanity will turn your world inside out. In 60 days, it’ll give you a body that even you will be amazed about. Run by the certified professional fitness trainer Shaun T, you’ll be shown the right way of getting the right results. Unsurprisingly a few people have some problems and questions surrounding the methods used by Shaun T. This post will take a look at some of these and address the question of how effective INSANITY really is.

Having done a number of the INSANITY workouts I already have formed some opinion on the subject. I’ve gone through days of difficult exercise sets with me heaving my lungs out whilst I try to complete the instructions. I’ve had moments when my muscles begin to tremble and insist that they simply will go on. There are days when I have been ready to give up. But I don’t. You know why? Because of Shaun T.

As a force of encouragement there is no stopping him. His passion and concern is genuine. Even though he is not physically there with me, I can sense him cheering me on from the cyber-gym. When I hear the voice of Shaun screaming “Don’t stop moving. Dig deeper”, it fills me with a sense of encouragement and determination. My muscles might feel tired but I get right back on the mat and continue. In the right hands, words are powerful weapons. Shaun T has spent years encouraging people and he has become amazingly good at it. His words of advice ensure that I get through each routine successfully and sagely. It’s that simple.

For people who use the INSANITY workouts, the voice of Shaun will become a familiar occurrence. You’ll get used to his words of encouragement when he senses that the people all around him are weakening in the intensity of their workouts. You’ll be energized by his impressive war cry. You’ll be taught the importance of discipline and commitment during the periods of your workout. With Shaun T barely inches away, telling you that you can do it, you’ll close your eyes, take a breath and realize the truth behind his words. Can you do it? Yes you can.

INSANITY is an amazing workout program. But its efficiency is not dependent so much on its techniques as it is on Shaun T. With Shaun T leading you feel the urge to simply move. To keep on going. People ask if Shaun T is a good fitness coach, the answer is “No”. Shaun T is not good. He simply is the best.
